Job Summary
Implement program activities designed for individual participants, including arts and crafts and music, while assisting with activities of daily living under nursing supervision. Accompany participants to vehicles and provide personal care instruction. Set up meals, serve food, and clean dining areas. Maintain confidentiality of care information and document accidents or incidents. Identify personal needs and behaviors, communicating changes per established procedures. Ensure a safe environment by reporting health and safety issues immediately. Perform other duties as assigned. This role supports elders and those with disabilities in a structured day program, helping families reduce the likelihood of premature nursing home placement.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum one year experience with elders in a long-term care setting (group home, skilled nursing facility, or day care)
- An equivalent combination of education and experience
- Licensed GNA with the Maryland Board of Nursing, active and in good standing
- Shows reliability by being punctual
- Maintains consistent attendance
- Excellent communication skills including active listening
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to work with minimal direction or supervision
- Ability to transfer approximately 110-200lbs regularly throughout the day
