Activities Assistant - Per Diem

Job Summary
Lead assigned activity programs by offering diversified recreational activities with adequate supervision, developing new programs including those for residents confined to rooms, and engaging residents to ensure participation. Greet new residents to include them in activities and introduce them to others, while informing the community of upcoming events through bulletin boards. Assist in planning parties, decorating the community for seasons and holidays, and organizing monthly birthday celebrations. Maintain records of activities, participation levels, and acceptance as required by state law, and support the Director of Activities in enlisting volunteers. Cover the reception desk as needed. Requires a high school diploma, three to six months of related experience, a completed criminal background check, and annual medical certification.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- three to six months related experience and/or training
- equivalent combination of education or experience
- Able to write simple correspondence
- Able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Must have submitted and completed a Criminal Background check for unlicensed employees in compliance with state regulation
- Must provide a medical certification from a licensed healthcare provider confirming that the employee is free from communicable disease including TB in compliance with state regulation at hire and annually thereafter
- Physically able to move at least 20 lbs. without assistance
- Physically able to bend, reach, and work in small areas
- Physically able to push and pull activity equipment and furnishings
