Job Summary
Plan, organize, and implement activities programs for the Specialty Dementia Unit. Interview residents or family members to gather activity information, then assist the Activity Director with assessments of individual resident needs. Review and report on these assessments while developing rapport with all services involved in the care plan. Encourage social communication through group activities and recreation, and motivate residents to participate in hobbies and crafts by providing necessary materials. Assist in transporting residents to activities and manage arts and crafts sessions. Work per diem at $17 to $19.74 per hour based on experience.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Working with arts and crafts in a nursing home experience
- Must be able to speak, write and understand English
- Must assist in the evacuation of residents as necessary
- May need to lift serving trays of up to 30 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Activities Assistant Certification or willingness to be certified (at St. Patrick's Manor expense) within 6 months
- Computer literate with training on entering resident care plan codes (MDS)
