Job Summary
Plan, coordinate, and facilitate engaging recreational and therapeutic activities tailored to residents' care plans and personal preferences. Encourage participation while promoting independence, dignity, and social interaction, including providing individualized bedside activities for those unable to attend group programs. Assist with decorating the facility for holidays and special events, and maintain accurate activity documentation per facility policies. Collaborate with nursing, therapy, social services, and community organizations to enhance resident programming and ensure safety during outings and special events. Present a positive, professional, and compassionate attitude when interacting with residents, families, and team members.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
- Ability to lead activities independently when the Activities Director is unavailable
- Ability to work effectively with residents who have cognitive, physical, or sensory impairments
- General understanding of activity programming regulations for long-term care facilities
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Outlook
- Must be available for occasional evenings, weekends, and special events
Desired Qualifications
- Six months to one year of experience in activities, recreation, healthcare, or a related field
- Experience working in a skilled nursing, rehabilitation, assisted living, or long-term care setting
- Knowledge of the aging process and the recreational needs of older adults
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Creative, energetic, and enthusiastic personality with a passion for improving residents' quality of life
