Job Summary
Plan, develop, and implement activity programs to address the spiritual, emotional, recreational, and social needs of residents. Set up and carry out scheduled activities, assist volunteers, and transport residents as needed. Clean activity rooms and the bus, while observing residents for condition changes and reporting to the Activity Director. Continue all activities in the Director's absence and notify care staff of nursing needs. Attend activity planning meetings and staff meetings. Maintain holiday themes and manage holiday decorations. Work part-time in a well-lit environment, lifting up to 25 pounds and transferring residents with proper body mechanics.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to speak, read and write in the English language
- Must possess, as a minimum, a high school degree or equivalent
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
- Must be caring and compassionate in dealing with residents as well as staff
- Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and, at times, hostile people within the facility
- Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, employees and outside contacts
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and government agencies and the general public
- Must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to lift and transfer residents, using proper body mechanics as needed

Desired Qualifications
- One (1) year experience in working with elderly desired
- Should have creative aptitude for training in arts, crafts and games
