Job Summary

Plan, organize, and lead daily activities and special events that promote connection, wellness, and joy among residents. Conduct daily activities following community policies, assist in resident orientation, and track attendance to encourage participation. Provide transportation for residents, maintain activity supply inventory, and assist the Activity Director in developing the monthly calendar and quarterly newsletter. Recruit volunteers, promote resident engagement, and educate staff on emergency plans while ensuring coverage is scheduled to maintain the activity roster.

Required Qualifications

  • Must possess knowledge of activities that will meet residents' mental, physical, social, and spiritual needs.
  • Must possess excellent writing and editing skills
  • Must be able to multitask and work with frequent interruptions.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills to communicate with residents, families, and staff.
  • Must show compassion and genuinely care for the elderly and disabled.
  • Must be knowledgeable of the location of the MSDS sheets on hazardous materials and able to understand the guidelines.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team to prioritize work load as emergencies arise.
  • Must possess current, active driver's license with an excellent driving record.
  • A CDL may be required for large vans in accordance with state requirements.
  • Must have working knowledge of personal computers, scanners, digital cameras, copiers and printers.
  • Must have previous experience in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook), Publisher, Print Shop, and the ability to work with other applicable software.
  • Must possess High school degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a care facility desired.
  • Certified Activity Director, Recreational Therapist, or Occupational Therapist is desired.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently.
  • Position requires strenuous physical work.
  • Drives and/or accompanies residents to outside activities frequently, occasionally in inclement weather.
  • This position offers a flexible schedule with some weekends and holidays required.

Desired Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a care facility desired.
  • Certified Activity Director, Recreational Therapist, or Occupational Therapist is desired.
