Job Summary
Activities Aide in a New York State assisted living/adult care setting on the evening shift. Responsible for planning, leading, and documenting life-enrichment programming including recreational, social, educational, spiritual, and wellness activities to promote resident engagement, dignity, independence, and quality of life. Lead or support group and one-on-one activities such as games, crafts, music, exercise, discussions, holiday programs, and community outings; set up and clean activity spaces; assist residents to and from activity areas; maintain attendance records and documentation; support family, volunteers, and community involvement; comply with infection control, safety, confidentiality, and residents’ rights policies; coordinate with the Activities Director/Coordinator or Administrator as needed. Requires effective communication, reliability, creativity, and ability to work as part of a care team; health assessments, background checks, orientation, and training per NYS requirements; physical ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and transport residents within facility policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience working with older adults, individuals with dementia, or in assisted living, adult care, long-term care, recreation, hospitality, or human services preferred
- Ability to communicate clearly, patiently, and respectfully with residents, families, visitors, and team members
- Creative, positive, reliable, and able to motivate and engage residents with varying physical and cognitive abilities
- Ability to follow directions, work independently, and function as part of a care team
- Basic computer or documentation skills preferred
- Must meet all facility and New York State employment requirements, including health assessments, background checks, orientation, and training
