Job Summary
The Resident Activity Assistant organizes and participates in in-person activity programming for residents, including one-to-one interventions, small group facilitation, and large group presentations, and documents participation in the medical record. Responsibilities include assisting the activity director, creating a stimulating environment, fostering community within the center, leading and participating in activities, utilizing modalities such as pet therapy, music therapy, and art therapy, assisting with decorating and event preparation, developing monthly calendars for residents and families, supporting residents in recreational programs, promoting volunteer efforts, maintaining activity records and supplies, and supporting resident well-being using the Biopsychosocial model; performs other tasks as assigned. Skills include willingness to learn new modalities, strong listening and communication abilities, ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, confidentiality, and comfort working with residents and families facing end-of-life issues.
