Job Summary
Plan, implement and evaluate individual and group activation programs based on assessed needs and as assigned by the Supervisor. Set up and clean activity area, transport residents to/from programs, monitor residents during programs and report changes to Supervisor/nursing staff. Maintain program and resident records, communicate participation to registered staff, and collaborate with other departments to meet resident needs. Requires post-secondary diploma/degree in recreation and leisure studies or related field (or enrollment in same with completion within 3 years), strong written/verbal communication, program planning/ evaluation experience for elderly residents including those with cognitive impairments, ability to work independently, and willingness to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check and a TB test. Pays $22.25/hour; Schedule: Days 8:00am-4:00pm; Location: London, Ontario.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology or other related field from a community college or university or enrolled in same required. If enrolled, must complete program within 3 years of hire date.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent documentation skills.
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience in one-one/group program planning, implementation and evaluation for both well and the cognitively impaired.
- Ability to work independently and ability to manage time effectively.
- Ability to plan, implement, evaluate new ideas, resident programs and volunteer initiatives.
- Knowledge and/or experience in working with the geriatric population especially those with cognitive impairments.
- A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of start date.
- Completion of a 2 Step TB Skin test within the last 12 months of start date.
