Job Summary
Coordinate, plan, and facilitate programs for residents in care communities, including purchasing supplies, decorating, and overseeing activities for small and large groups. Complete resident assessments, establish goals and interventions, and document progress through attendance records, care plans, and quarterly reviews. Collaborate with therapy programs such as pet, music, and art therapy to connect residents with the broader community while performing other duties as assigned. Requires a diploma in recreation, therapeutic recreation, or gerontology, plus current First Aid/CPR and Food Handlers certification. Previous experience in program planning and documentation is essential.
Required Qualifications
- A post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, gerontology or other related field from an indigenous Institute, private career college, college of applied arts and technology, another degree granting Institution or equivalent work experience working with seniors
- Current Standard and/or Emergency First Aid and CPR Certification
- A valid Food Handlers Certificate
- Previous experience in program planning, documentation, and evaluation
- Must meet provincial police check requirements
- Must meet tuberculosis screening requirements as applicable
- Must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check
- Must successfully pass the prescribed Criminal Records Check
