Job Summary
Prepare daily activities providing physical, cognitive, and emotional enjoyment for residents. Contribute to the development and refinement of programs and initiatives tailored to unique interests and abilities. Support assessing residents' needs while maintaining accurate records of participation and feedback. Foster social interaction by leading designated activities, assisting new residents with facility introductions, and encouraging conversation among residents. Provide regular updates to the Team Leader on resident involvement and program effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
- A post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, gerontology or other related field from an indigenous Institute, private career college, college of applied arts and technology, another degree granting Institution or equivalent work experience working with seniors
- Experience in working with seniors including an understanding of motivation concepts with seniors
- Understanding of leisure principles
- You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work permit
- You must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and/or Criminal Record Check applicable to the appropriate province
