Acquisition Program Engineer - System Safety

Job Summary
Define system safety program requirements and ensure planning, implementation, and accomplishment of system safety tasks consistent with overall program objectives. Apply independent judgment to electronic, electro-mechanical, and mechanical armament systems, including guidance, control, and weapons fusing. Interpret design requirements, hazards, and standards for test, operational, and logistics needs while participating in readiness activities and reviewing safety analyses. Conduct engineering trade-off, simulation, and cost analyses to support research, development, and acquisition of air armament systems. Plan technical reviews, audits, and milestone documentation; translate DoD user requirements into system specifications for design and evaluation. Provide independent analysis for system readiness, risk management, and FMS case support while advising on source selection tasks and contractor proposals.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of a Top-Secret security clearance
- PhD (Doctorate) degree in a related field and at least five (5) years of experience in the respective technical / professional discipline being performed
- master's degree in a related field and at least fifteen (15) years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed
- bachelor's degree in a related field and twenty (20) years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed
- All engineering support requiring a bachelor's degree or greater must have an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited college of engineering degree
- Knowledge and experience with DoD munitions safety regulations and processes, including USAF Nonnuclear Munitions Safety Board approvals and certifications, USN Weapon Systems Explosive Safety Review Board certification, MIL-STD-1316, and AFI 63-104 Aircraft Stores Compatibility Certification
- Knowledge and experience with acquisition documentation as it pertains to system safety, including Systems Engineering Plans, System Safety Analyses, Programmatic Environmental Safety and Health Evaluations, and Life Cycle Sustainment Plans
