Job Summary
Manage and coordinate all underwater acoustics engineering activities and work packages for the Underwater Systems business line. Ensure engineering discipline stability across bids, projects, and R&D by acting as the technical authority to approve investigations and detailed design packages. Prepare costed work packages, conduct design and readiness reviews, and organize documentation including specifications, calculations, drawings, and test plans. Deploy tailored practices and tools to manage technical risks while maintaining team flexibility for urgent business unit issues. Maintain technical maintenance documentation for acoustic systems and contribute to peer reviews to enhance delivery confidence.
Required Qualifications
- An Underwater Acoustics-related Engineering Degree or Mechanical Engineering Degree
- Able to meet the requirements for membership to Engineers Australia
- Knowledge and experience with Piezo-electric ceramic materials
- Substantial knowledge of Acoustics Engineering in the underwater domain
- Knowledge of the Engineering Design process
- Understanding of the Systems Engineering Design methodology
- At least 8 years post-graduate design experience
- At least 3 years as a lead engineer, providing technical leadership in the engineering design and test lifecycle
- Previous experience managing and leading teams
- Previous experience with stakeholder management
- Planning, preparation, execution and reporting of the engineering design
- Preparation of all supporting documentation for design reviews
- Familiarity with technology and associated tools, methods and processes such as: Design: DS Catia, DS Solidworks, DS Smarteam, PTC Creo, PTC PDMLink, Siemens, NX, Autodesk Autocad, CAD Model, Drawings, Bill of Materials, Data Management Simulation: Ansys Mechanical, DS Abaqus, DS Dymola, MSC Nastran, Structural analysis (static, modal analysis, shocks, vibrations), Mechanical tests correlation, Design optimization, Strength analysis Environmental Testing: Shock and vibration tests, Qualificat...
