Job Summary
First Assistant Store Director in Westchester County oversees store operations in the Store Director's absence, supervises 100+ employees, manages scheduling, payroll, training and development, performance evaluations and personnel actions, implements security and cash control procedures, handles customer complaints, maintains sanitation standards and inventory, coordinates interdepartmental communications, and drives store performance through labor forecasts, labor budgeting, product placement, and adherence to company policies and union-related requirements where applicable. The role emphasizes leadership, customer service excellence, effective workforce management, and compliance with wage/safety regulations, with travel for training and program participation as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of assistant manager experience responsible for managing a department/team within a multi-department operation in the retail or service industry
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred
- Strong customer service and supervisory skills
- Solid understanding of overall store operations
- Proven ability to demonstrate strong leadership skills
- Will be required to repeatedly use hands, arms, legs, and feet for sustained action (walking around the store, stocking, rotating product)
- Ability to stand 100% of the shift and work in a fast-paced environment
- Travel may be required for training or participation in corporate programs and focus groups
