Job Summary
The Aircraft Painter I prepares the aircraft for paint-related operations by masking, sanding, and preparing surfaces, applying glazing and sealing compounds, operating and maintaining prep/priming equipment, and mixing paints/primers. Additional duties include finishing leading edge sealant work, adhering to safety/5S/housekeeping policies, using PPE, keeping the paint shop compliant with standard practices, and supporting a weekend-day shift. Requires reading/writing/speaking English, reading/interpreting blueprints, and passing a pulmonary function test for respirator certification. Must be able to read/write/speak English and perform required lifting (up to 40 pounds) and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 1 year painting experience
- A working knowledge of paint processes and products (lacquers, enamels, epoxies, urethanes, and acrylics)
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation
- Able to pass Pulmonary Function Test to obtain respirator certification
- Ability to use tools, equipment, and materials in the aircraft painting process
- Able to climb ladders and stairs, perform close tolerance work, work in small spaces, lift up to 40 pounds
- Must be computer literate
