Welcome and orient University of Mary nursing students to the nursing practice setting, fostering a culture of ready and earnest hospitality. Model standards of professional nursing practice by acting as a clinical nursing expert, change agent, mentor, and leader to students and the division. Cultivate hands-on practice experiences for students in the Medical Surgical Acute care setting, utilizing a variety of clinical instruction strategies that challenge student growth in critical thinking and clinical judgment. Provide on-site clinical instruction for two students while simultaneously assuming a typical department patient care assignment. Provide regular, specific verbal and written feedback regarding student clinical performance to University of Mary faculty, focusing on both strengths and areas for growth. Facilitate student development by attending required Division of Nursing meetings and participating in continuing education to maintain currency with clinical practices and simulation technology.
