Job Summary
Correct pre-claim edits, review correspondence for aged accounts, and follow up on billed claims with insurance companies using online resources, telephone, and written communication. Trend and resolve denied or delayed claims while calculating expected reimbursement based on hospital contracts and pursuing underpayments. Communicate with insurance companies and patients as needed to ensure accurate resolution. This role sits within the Jefferson Regional Patient Accounting Department, offering a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with no weekends or call rotations.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2-year medical office or hospital clerical experience
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suites
- Ability to trend and resolve denied or delayed claims
- Ability to calculate expected reimbursement based on hospital contracts with payers
- Ability to pursue underpayments
- Ability to communicate with insurance companies and patients
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or other related field
- Experience with medical claims follow up and account resolution
- Knowledge of insurance allocation rules
