Job Summary

Administer the Warrenton Police Department's law enforcement accreditation program to ensure ongoing compliance with Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission (VLEPSC) standards. Coordinate annual compliance reviews, file audits, site visits, and four-year accreditation assessments while serving as the primary point of contact during these evaluations. Develop, review, and revise departmental policies and procedures to maintain adherence to federal, state, and local ordinances, compiling all necessary documentation and preparing annual reports. Deliver training on new policies and accreditation requirements to staff, acting as the liaison with external accrediting organizations and regulatory agencies. Maintain the multi-year strategic compliance plan and organize all accreditation files and proofs of compliance.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Virginia (VA) Driver's License
  • Accreditation Managers Certification
  • Department Specified Training
  • Knowledge and understanding of VLEPSC standards and the accreditation process
  • Knowledge of modern law enforcement principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment
  • Ability to act as a lobbyist in accreditation matters before various VLEPSC Virginia Law Enforcement Accreditation Coalition (VALEAC) committees
  • Ability to use proper spelling, punctuation, grammar, arithmetic, statistical analysis and business English
  • Ability to learn and apply technical terminology and information specifically related to Police work
  • Ability to effectively and discreetly handle confidential information
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to complete repetitive wrist, hand, and/or fine motor movement
  • Ability to grasp, pull, push, and reach
  • Ability to climb and balance
  • Ability to talk, hear, listen, and comprehend
  • Ability to drive and/or operate mechanical equipment
  • Visual acuity of 20 feet or more, visual acuity of 20 inches or less, three-dimensional vision, precise hand/eye coordination, the ability to identify and distinguish colors
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
  • Satisfactory results of a criminal history check
  • Satisfactory results of a credit history check
  • Satisfactory results of drug/alcohol testing

Desired Qualifications

  • An associate degree from an accredited college or university
