Job Summary
Accounts Receivable Specialist I will support the operations and financial health of the revenue cycle management team by actively following up on past-due medical claims with insurance carriers, utilizing payer portals, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve payer issues and trends. Responsibilities include investigating and resolving claim denials and determining when to file reconsiderations/appeals, ensuring timely reimbursement, maintaining detailed follow-up notes, and providing high-quality client service while upholding PHI/security policies. The role requires 3+ years of experience in medical specialties with third-party billing/revenue cycle management, proficiency with Excel, and familiarity with ABA/Applied Behavioral Analysis and CentralReach; on-site in Austin, TX with remote consideration for candidates outside the Austin area. The role reports to the Director of Accounts Receivable and operates within the revenue cycle management department.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma required
- 2+ years of experience managing medical receivables
- Experience in revenue cycle management and handling insurance claims
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance guidelines
- Experience with CentralReach practice management system is preferred
- Experience in ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) preferred
- Strong Excel skills (formulas, ad-hoc reporting)
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Ability to comply with PHI/security policies
