Job Summary
Accounts Payable Specialist needed at HOPE Cooperative in Sacramento, CA to manage timely payment of vendor and staff expenses, code and post invoices to the general ledger, prepare disbursements, reconcile company credit cards, assist with monthly close and audits, and provide general department support. Responsibilities include reviewing and processing expense claims, ensuring documentation accuracy, maintaining vendor files, handling 1099s and W-9 records, assisting with GL corrections, and maintaining PHI safeguards in line with HIPAA policies. Requires 3+ years of bookkeeping/accounting experience (including supervisory experience), strong data entry and reconciliation skills, familiarity with government/nonprofit accounting principles, and ability to pass FBI/DOJ background screenings. Must demonstrate regular attendance and may back up Payroll Specialist as needed.
Required Qualifications
- At least three (3) years’ experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or secretarial assignments involving advanced recordkeeping; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- At least (3) years’ supervisory experience in overseeing a departments daily task and goals are achieved
- Generally accepted accounting and bookkeeping principles and procedures, prefer knowledge of governmental accounting principles
- Ability to pass clearance of the FBI and/or DOJ background screenings
- Consumer of mental health services or a family member of a mental health consumer is desirable
