Job Summary
Manage the flow of invoices from receipt to payment, ensuring accuracy and adherence to district, state, and federal policies. Verify invoices, oversee payment processes, and maintain strong relationships with vendors while resolving discrepancies. Process employee expense claims, payable runs, and reconcile bank statements, W9s, and ACH applications. Prepare reports on outstanding payments, aged creditors, and abandoned property to contribute to monthly and annual cycles. Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to optimize the accounts payable workflow. Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
Required Qualifications
- Strong understanding of accounts payable principles
- Ability to motivate and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors
- Analytical mindset to identify discrepancies, process inefficiencies, and implement solutions
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or an Associates Degree from an accredited educational institution in Accounting
- Several years of experience in accounts payable
- Supervisory or management experience
- Create and review documents with strong attention to detail
- Maintain a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and flexibility to take on new challenges as needed
- Assist in establishing a collaborative work environment with other district office staff
- Must maintain confidentiality
- Hold a current Maine DOE CHRC Approval
