Accounts and Payroll Officer

Job Summary
Manage end-to-end fortnightly payroll processing, ensuring accurate employee payments and coordinating with the outsourced provider to resolve payroll matters. Handle payroll adjustments, onboarding, and offboarding while preparing reconciliations, validation reports, and variance analysis for leadership. Process supplier invoices, execute weekly payment runs, and respond to vendor enquiries to maintain accurate accounts payable records. Prepare journals and conduct financial administration activities to support governance and operational effectiveness. Identify opportunities to improve payroll and finance processes through continuous improvement initiatives. This 15-month fixed term role requires a 100% Australian citizen with a Baseline Security Clearance.
Required Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Accounting or a related discipline
- Diploma-level qualifications in Business, Accounting or Finance
- Experience in payroll administration and processing
- Experience in accounts payable, finance administration or a similar role
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage work accurately in a high-volume environment
- Sound understanding of payroll processes and compliance requirements
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Experience working with finance, payroll or ERP systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across the organisation
- A customer-focused approach and commitment to delivering responsive and reliable service
- A proactive mindset and willingness to take ownership of tasks and outcomes
- Australian citizenship
