Job Summary
Senior Staff Accountant responsible for supporting the accounting department through the preparation, analysis, and maintenance of financial records and reports. Key duties include month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities; preparing journal entries; analyzing financial statements, variances, and trends; reconciling bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts; supporting accounts payable/receivable; assisting budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting; ensuring GAAP compliance; preparing schedules for audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting; monitoring depreciation and inventory accounting; researching and resolving discrepancies; and recommending process improvements to enhance efficiency and internal controls. Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational skills and proficiency with Excel and accounting software are required, along with the ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- CPA designation or CPA candidate preferred
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience in multi-unit retail, hospitality, restaurant, or food service environments preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with accounting software systems
