Job Summary
Maintain and update computerized accounts payable and accounts receivable records by entering invoice information, posting payments, and reconciling balances. Generate checks, verify billing calculations for trade accounts and municipal invoices, and collect bad debts through reminder letters or calls. Communicate with employees, vendors, and customers to clarify information and explain billing processes while ensuring all records comply with company policies. Requires proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics and Microsoft Office Suite. One year of accounting clerical experience and a valid driver's license are required.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED certificate
- Accounting or bookkeeping courses
- One year of experience in accounting clerical work, data entry or related experience
- One year experience in the use of IBM compatible computers including commercial word processing and spreadsheet software packages
- Possession of a valid Driver's License
- Acquire a Virginia Driver's License within 60 days after the date of hire (in instances when an out of state license is not the applicant's current state of residence)
- Basic knowledge of accounting methods and processes as they relate to accounts payable/accounts receivable
- Practical knowledge of computerized accounting systems
- Ability to enter data into accounting records accurately
- Ability to explain accounting processes to employees and vendors
- Proficiency in using computer systems and the listed software applications associated with performance of assigned work
- Basic problem-solving skills associated with software applications used
