Job Summary
The Accounting Department handles paying, posting, receiving, balancing and reconciling tribal financial records. Responsibilities include issuing purchase order numbers, creating daily PO batches, reconciling POs with invoices and encumbrance reports, communicating with program staff to support accounting documents, resolving vendor billing disputes, assisting in accounts payable processing, reconciling corporate credit cards to source documents, maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts, maintaining accurate vendor information using TIN matching, and providing technical assistance on accounting procedures. The role may include other duties as assigned. Must have a high school diploma or GED, at least one year in bookkeeping/accounting, familiarity with computerized accounting systems, strong interpersonal skills, and willingness to work some weekends/evenings.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent and one year experience in general bookkeeping/accounting field –OR- equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Experience in computerized accounting systems and windows applications.
- Ability to use ten key and other office equipment.
- Read and understand financial documents and reports; preferred.
- Perform accounting functions on a computer.
- Possess solid interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to occasionally work some weekends and evenings.
