Accounting Supervisor

Job Summary

Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general accounting, accounts payable, financial reporting, and payroll. Supervise the accounting team by establishing performance expectations, assigning work, conducting evaluations, and providing coaching and development opportunities. Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accurate General Ledger accounts, revenue recognition, and cost allocations. Collaborate with auditors, prepare tax returns, and maintain compliance with GAAP and funder requirements. Prepare monthly government invoices, analyze financial trends, and contribute to the annual fiscal budget. Process payroll, approve vendor payments, and implement internal controls and policy updates. Eligible for hybrid/telework after an introductory period. Bachelor's degree in Accounting with five years of experience and three years of supervisory background required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Business Administration specializing in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • minimum of five years of related accounting experience
  • At least three years of supervisory experience, including setting expectations, monitoring performance, providing feedback, and promoting accountability
  • Strong understanding of internal controls and financial management processes
  • Excellent Reading, Writing, and Oral Communication
  • Attention to Detail
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with accounting and payroll software systems, such as Sage 100 and Paylocity
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to be flexible, innovative, and adapt to the agency's changing needs
  • Proven ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality and discretion
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with individuals from a diversity of backgrounds

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with accounting and payroll software systems, such as Sage 100 and Paylocity
