Accounting Specialist

Job Summary
Support full-cycle month-end close, including journal entry preparation, accruals, account reconciliations, and flux analysis. Process accounts payable by reviewing and coding invoices to ensure timely, accurate vendor payments, while assisting with payroll recording, lease-related entries, and employee expense and T&E processing. Facilitate vendor onboarding, contract intake, and routing documents into the contract management system. Assist with year-end audit support by responding to external auditor requests and maintain well-organized, audit-ready records. Identify opportunities to streamline and improve accounting processes within a growing biotech finance team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 1–3 years of accounting experience
- Working knowledge of core accounting principles (US GAAP)
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, etc.)
- Comfort with accounting systems and tools
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills
- Ability to handle routine work reliably while navigating occasional nuance and ambiguity
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Eagerness to learn and grow in a supportive start-up environment
- Candidates should be local to the DFW area
Desired Qualifications
- Public accounting experience
- Experience in biotech, pharma, or another early-stage/start-up environment
- NetSuite experience
- Experience with AI tools (i.e. Claude in Excel)
- Exposure to AP automation, T&E platforms, forecasting platforms, or contract management systems
- Progress toward CPA licensure (parts passed)
