Accounting Manager

Job Summary
Lead daily accounting operations, including general ledger activity, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close. Hire, supervise, coach, and develop a finance team of up to 10 individuals. Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and supporting documentation while maintaining internal controls and audit-ready records. Investigate balance sheet variances, resolve issues, and monitor compliance with grants, contracts, and donor restrictions. Coordinate annual audits and partner with HR, program, and operations teams to support accurate financial reporting and coding. Identify process improvements that increase consistency, accuracy, and efficiency. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, 10 years of progressive experience with 3-5 in supervision, and strong GAAP knowledge. Experience in nonprofit or grant-funded environments is essential.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with 3-5 years being in a supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Experience in nonprofit, government, or grant-funded environments
- Proven ability to lead and develop accounting staff
- On-site presence
- Flexibility to work extended hours during peak periods, including audits, budgeting cycles, year-end close, and program reviews
Desired Qualifications
- CPA or CMA designation
- Experience with federal grants and Uniform Guidance
- Experience using nonprofit accounting software such as NetSuite, MIP, Financial Edge, Sage, or Intacct
