Job Summary
Oversee revenue recognition, deferred revenue, equity, and inventory accounting while developing cross-functional systems to track inputs. Manage the outsourced accounting team and direct internal hires as headcount grows, ensuring proper expense coding and classification across internal groups. Own the order-to-cash cycle including billing and collections, lead monthly flux analysis and KPI reporting, and serve as the primary contact for external audit and tax preparation. Complete the first audit and leverage accounting to inform business decisions as the company scales. This hands-on role builds scalable processes from the ground up while growing into managing a small accounting team. Ideal for a candidate with 5-10 years of progressive accounting experience in a startup environment, proficient in GAAP and QuickBooks Online.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5-10 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with some combination of public and private accounting experience
- Demonstrated ability to own complex, cross-functional accounting projects end-to-end
- Track record of mentoring others and raising the quality bar
- Working knowledge of GAAP, including revenue recognition, inventory and equity accounting
- Experience managing external audit and tax relationships
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online or a comparable accounting system
Desired Qualifications
- CPA license
- Experience in an early-stage or venture-backed startup environment
- Experience with modern finance tooling such as Ramp, Digits, Carta
- Experience building AI/agent-assisted processes
- Robotics, hardware, or manufacturing industry experience
