Job Summary
Oversee accounting operations and reporting for five operating entities, managing monthly, quarterly, and year-end close procedures while ensuring accurate recording of revenue, costs, and intercompany accounts. Coordinate annual budgets, monitor cash requirements, and process payments for subcontractors and vendors. Lead a finance team of five staff members by coaching, directing, and motivating personnel to foster collaboration across finance and construction units. Develop accounting policies, establish controls for intercompany transactions, and support year-end audits. Act as the primary accounting resource for operational management, preparing reports for stakeholders and mitigating financial, contractual, and reporting risks. Ensure compliance with Canadian and BC accounting, tax, and reporting requirements.
Required Qualifications
- CPA designation
- Minimum of 3 years supervising accounting staff
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
- Experience in the construction industry and unionized environments
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel pivot tables
- High personal, professional, and ethical standards
- Collaborative, proactive, and results-oriented mindset
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
- Proven leadership and coaching skills
- Experience with change management
- Effective prioritization and time-management skills
- Hybrid work schedule: four days in the office each week, including at least one day in the Port Coquitlam office, and one day working from home
