Job Summary
Accounting Manager role overseeing AP/AR functions and month-end close in a mission-driven K-12 school environment. Lead and supervise AP/AR clerks, prepare financial statements, assist with journal entries and reconciliations, support budgeting and variance analysis, ensure internal controls and audit readiness, and collaborate across departments to provide financial insights. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, 4+ years of accounting experience (preferably in school/nonprofit), demonstrated leadership, GAAP knowledge, strong Excel skills, and experience with accounting systems (Blackbaud or similar). Onsite in Hardwick, MA with a hands-on, detail-oriented leadership approach; CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience; experience in a school, nonprofit, or similar environment a plus
- Demonstrated leadership experience, either in an official or unofficial capacity
- Knowledge of GAAP and general accounting practices
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems (Blackbaud or similar preferred)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
