Job Summary
Statutory Accounting Manager to oversee monthly closing, financial reporting, and regulatory/statutory compliance for a P&C insurer. Lead a team responsible for journal entries for insurance/reinsurance activities, tax provisions, and premium taxes; maintain the insurance database and manage investment accounting; oversee reinsurance accounting, billing, and collections; prepare quarterly and annual statutory and GAAP financials and regulatory filings; lead the preparation of annual audited financial statements and footnotes; stay current on statutory accounting regulations and implement changes; lead ad-hoc accounting projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5-10 years of experience in P&C insurance accounting
- strong understanding of statutory and reinsurance accounting
- CPA or Master's degree a plus
- experience researching and resolving complex accounting issues
- leadership skills and ability to manage a team
- excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- proficiency in advanced Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, Teams)
- experience with statutory accounting software is a plus
