Job Summary
Lead and coordinate the month-end close process, ensuring timely execution of assigned tasks while developing a thorough understanding of AP processes to approve weekly payment runs. Ensure accurate entry of AP bills, closure of the AP module, and review of month-end accrued liability journal entries, including detailed monthly reconciliation to minimize year-end audit cleanup. Partner with external auditors and tax consultants to manage year-end processes, review month-over-month fluctuations for financial statement analysis, and serve as a subject matter expert for complex balances such as leases and internally developed software. Identify and implement improvements that increase the accuracy and efficiency of the close process, while initially managing two AP staff members and owning ad hoc projects like reclassification and process documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial statement preparation
- 3-10 years of progressive accounting experience in industry and/or public accounting
- Experience with cost accounting or general inventory accounting
- Ability to manage, coach, and develop accounting staff, including assigning responsibilities, reviewing work, providing feedback, and supporting overall team performance
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Be comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment and dealing with ambiguity
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
Desired Qualifications
- Big Four or large regional public accounting experience preferred
- Experience with Acumatica ERP or other mid-market ERP system is preferred
- CPA preferred
