Job Summary
OCJ's Accounting Manager oversees AP/AR, journal entries, records retention, and month-end tasks, assists with payroll and benefits administration,HRIS recruitment/onboarding/offboarding, open enrollment coordination, and general office support. The role supports the Finance Director with budgeting, annual returns, and audit processes, ensures accurate, timely financial operations, and contributes to organizational reporting. The position requires GAAP knowledge, nonprofit accounting experience, attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to collaborate across departments in a hybrid Portland-based setup.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or MBA degree in business, finance, accounting, or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of nonprofit accounting and administration
- Progressive experience in financial and organizational management in the nonprofit sector
- Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Experience using financial databases/software; NetSuite is a bonus
- Strong attention to detail and confidential information handling
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexible and adaptable to changes
- Proficiency with Excel and Google Sheets; Microsoft Suite experience
