Job Summary
The Accounting Manager is responsible for general ledger analysis, adjusting journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and related tasks to support the Finance Department and NKF objectives. This position participates in the monthly close process, identifies process improvements, and maintains appropriate accounting control procedures and records for assigned tasks, including monthly reconciliation of the investment portfolio, depreciation and fixed asset schedules, bank reconciliations, AR and store activity reconciliations, FIFO inventory reconciliations, inter-bank transfers, credit card processing reviews, and ad hoc analyses as needed. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience, advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP), familiarity with Great Plains, and the ability to meet monthly closing deadlines. Strong analytical, detail-oriented, and collaborative work style essential for interaction with NKF staff and volunteers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP functions, data analysis, and reporting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word; knowledge of Microsoft Great Plains accounting software is a plus
- Ability to complete tasks on a timely basis and meet the monthly closing cycle deadline
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
- Ability to interact professionally with all levels of NKF, including Headquarters, Field Services staff, and volunteers
- Detail-oriented and excellent organizational skills
