Job Summary
Lead accounting operations for a municipal/public sector organization in Long Beach, CA, supervising accounting staff and driving process improvements. Oversee AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, cash receipts, purchasing, and capital assets; assist with budget preparation, financial reporting, forecasting, and analysis; manage monthly reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statements; coordinate annual audits, grants compliance, ACFR preparation, and internal controls; ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards and policies; demonstrate strong leadership and communication to maintain strong internal controls and accurate financial reporting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Municipal/government accounting experience strongly preferred
- Minimum of 4 years of supervisory experience within a public sector or municipal environment
- Strong knowledge of fund accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, audits, and internal controls
- CPA and/or Master's degree preferred
