Job Summary
Accounting Manager responsible for the Build-to-Rent division’s full-cycle accounting in a Toronto-based role on a 15-month contract (with potential extension). Oversees financial reporting and accounting for all entities in the BTR division, prepares IFRS annual statements and consolidation working papers, coordinates with external auditors, and supports ASPE reporting with IFRS reconciliation. Manages treasury activities including capital calls and bank funding, assists covenant reporting to lenders, partners with internal teams on acquisitions and debt financings, mentors accounting staff, and collaborates across the company’s accounting, treasury, development, and leasing teams. Requires CPA designation with 5+ years post-designation experience, IFRS reporting proficiency (ASPE asset), and ERP/Office skills; real estate and cross-border experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- CPA designation (CA or equivalent) with 5+ years of post-designation experience
- Proven experience overseeing or mentoring accounting staff
- Strong IFRS reporting experience (ASPE experience is an asset)
- Experience in mid-sized or large real estate organizations
- Experience with U.S. real estate structures, tax coordination, or cross-border reporting is an asset
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, attention to detail, ownership mindset
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar ERP systems is an asset
