Accounting Manager | Full-Time | Ryan Field at Northwestern University

Job Summary

Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, general ledger, and financial reporting. Manage and coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes while reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals. Prepare monthly financial statements, analyze results to identify variances, and communicate findings to leadership. Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements, coordinate with external auditors, and maintain internal controls. Manage, train, and develop accounting staff, including scheduling and performance expectations. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes while supporting payroll accounting and capital expenditure tracking. This role offers an annual salary of $75,000 - $85,000 with health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and 11 paid holidays. The position is open until November 13, 2026.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory or management experience
  • Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, budgeting, and financial analysis
  • Experience managing and developing accounting personnel
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive financial information

Desired Qualifications

  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • Experience in hospitality, entertainment, sports, food and beverage, or a high-volume operational environment
  • Experience with large-scale event operations or multi-department financial management
  • Experience with accounting/ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, Workday, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms
  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting software
  • Experience managing financial operations across multiple departments or business units
