Job Summary
Accounting Manager role for Jamaica and the broader Caribbean region. Lead the accounting function, ensure compliance with local statutory requirements, IFRS, and U.S. GAAP, manage monthly/quarterly/annual close, and coordinate statutory financial statements and external audits. Oversee Jamaica tax and payroll-related compliance (GCT/VAT, NIS, NHT, HEART) and align local processes with company policies. Collaborate with Houston accounting leadership and regional stakeholders to provide financial analysis, budgeting/forecasting, variance analysis, and decision support. Support ERP enhancements (SAP) and drive process improvements to strengthen internal controls and scalability of regional operations. Requires 8+ years of accounting experience, multinational exposure, strong Excel/SAP skills, and professional accounting qualifications; English proficiency and ability to work independently in a regional context are essential.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a leadership role supporting multinational or multi-entity operations
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and U.S. GAAP, with the ability to manage local statutory reporting and corporate reporting requirements in parallel
- Practical experience with Jamaica statutory and tax requirements strongly preferred, including corporate income tax, GCT, payroll-related compliance, and annual filing obligations
- Broader Caribbean or CARICOM experience is a strong plus, particularly across jurisdictions with varying VAT/GST, payroll, audit, and company secretarial requirements
- Experience coordinating external audits, statutory financial statements, and third-party accounting, tax, or payroll service providers
- Strong systems knowledge, including ERP experience such as SAP; experience with reporting tools and Microsoft Excel required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; advanced degree is a plus
- Professional accounting qualification preferred, such as ICAJ Chartered Accountant, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent regional designation
- Strong English communication skills required; additional Caribbean language capability is a plus depending on business needs
- Able to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and operate effectively in a lean, hands-on regional environment
- Proficiency in SAP preferred
- Proficient level of experience with Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs required
- Strong work ethic and sense of urgency required
- Customer service orientation, with excellent follow-up and follow-through expected
- Strong influencing, collaboration, and critical thinking skills required
