Accounting Manager

Job Summary

Manage the company's month-end financial close process by building the close schedule, reviewing general ledger reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and journal entries. Directly supervise, train, and develop Staff and Senior Accountants while reviewing monthly balance sheet reconciliations and rollforwards. Analyze variances between standard and actual costs, yield, and waste, partnering with Operations to investigate discrepancies. Prepare customer-level margin reporting and partner with departments on routine daily transactions including inventory management and external reporting. Oversee periodic invoicing, inventory reconciliations, and cycle counts. Design and enforce accounting policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls, ensure GAAP adherence, and lead financial audits and tax filings. Drive process improvements in financial reporting and ERP system enhancements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
  • CPA or CMA
  • Minimum of 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Prior supervisory or team-lead experience
  • CPG, co-packing, or manufacturing industry experience
  • Strong working knowledge of cost accounting concepts, including job costing, BOMs/routings, and standard vs. actual cost variance analysis in a multi-client manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of and ability to ensure compliance with appropriate GAAP and internal controls over financial reporting, including segregation of duties principles
  • Prior experience with SAP B1/S4HANA, NetSuite, SYSPRO, or other similar ERP accounting software
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop a team of accountants
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to effectively and confidently communicate with external and internal stakeholders, including executive leadership
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Desired Qualifications

  • CPA or CMA a plus
  • CPG, co-packing, or manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred
  • A hands-on leader who enjoys building processes and teams within a close-knit environment
  • Proven ability to work to strict deadlines and respond to changing priorities
  • Possesses superior organizational skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, tact, initiative, drive, and takes ownership of the role
