Accounting Manager

Job Summary

Manage and mentor a team of accountants while overseeing the day-to-day corporate accounting function, including general ledger, accounts receivable, lease accounting, fixed assets, and financial reporting. Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with applicable standards, oversee the month-end close process, and manage all audit activities. Drive continuous improvement of accounting systems and workflows, maintain strong relationships with external auditors and banking partners, and oversee billing, invoicing, and collections. Coordinate with external tax advisors to prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns, support mergers and acquisitions activities, and develop written accounting policies. Contribute to departmental transformation using AI and ERP tools.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • 5 years of progressive accounting leadership experience
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Strong expertise in GAAP, technical accounting topics (ASC 606), and financial reporting standards
  • Experience overseeing core accounting functions including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, reporting, compliance, and treasury operations
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing high-performing teams
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams

Desired Qualifications

  • 2+ years in architecture/engineering/construction (AEC) or similar in the professional services industry
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Managerial Accountant (CMA) equivalent certification or in process certification
  • Background in public accounting or experience working with large, complex organizations
  • Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions or other transaction-driven environments
  • Knowledge of Deltek Vantagepoint
  • Experience completing process improvements, system implementations, or finance transformation initiatives
  • Exposure to international accounting standards (IFRS) and global operations
