Job Summary
Accounting Manager (Clinical) is an integral part of the growing accounting team, focusing on the R&D related accounting close process for clinical accounting, collaborating with CROs, Clinical Operations, Outsourcing, and FP&A to ensure timely and accurate reporting of clinical costs. Responsibilities include managing month-end/quarter close for clinical related accruals, maintaining the monthly clinical tracker, preparing journal entries and reconciliations under US GAAP and SOX, reviewing CRO budgets and contracts, ensuring proper capture of invoices against POs and budgets, conducting R&D clinical fluctuation analyses, and communicating financial findings to Clinical Operations. The role involves participating in CRO/Clinical Operations meetings and supporting ad hoc projects, with a hybrid in-office schedule 2-3 days per week in the San Francisco office.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in accounting or finance
- CPA or CMA is preferred
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience in a publicly traded company with Biotech/Pharma Industry
- Proficiency in SAP (or Oracle, Netsuite) and Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH)
- Ability to interpret and analyze complex Clinical vendor contracts and apply accounting judgment according to US GAAP
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities
- Experience collaborating with CROs, Clinical Operations, Outsourcing and FP&A
