Accounting & Finance Manager

Job Summary
Oversee accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll coordination while leading the monthly close process to ensure accurate financial statements. Maintain internal controls, compliance with nonprofit regulations, and serve as the primary contact for audits and tax filings. Support budgeting and forecasting in partnership with the Executive Pastor and Fractional CFO, providing ongoing variance analysis and financial insights. Manage donor financial reporting, giving records, and contribution tracking to ensure accurate donor statements and tax documentation. Evaluate and improve financial systems and workflows using platforms like QuickBooks, PushPay, and Planning Center to drive scalability.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
- at least two years with significant responsibility for the monthly close process
- Experience in a nonprofit organization environment (or creative agency)
- Demonstrated ownership of: Monthly/quarterly close process
- Financial statement preparation (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
- Audit coordination (external auditors, PBC lists, responses)
- Experience building and maintaining budgets and forecasts
- Working knowledge of accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks or equivalent)
- Strong Excel / Google Sheets proficiency (modeling, reconciliations, data cleanup)
- Ability to Translate Financial Information into Practical Guidance
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field
Desired Qualifications
- Accounting & Reporting (GAAP; nonprofit fund accounting strongly preferred)
- CPA or advanced accounting certification
- Deeper nonprofit experience (grants management, donor restrictions, fund accounting nuance)
- Experience with: Pushpay
- Experience with: Planning Center
- Experience with: Google Workspace
- Experience supporting leadership with financial insights (not just reporting)
- Exposure to payroll/HR systems or working with a PEO
- Experience managing or mentoring junior staff or outsourced accounting teams
