Job Summary
Cost Accountant at NWPX Infrastructure supports manufacturing operations by analyzing costs, managing inventory, and reporting on plant profitability. Responsibilities include month-end close, physical inventory counts, and interacting with Operations Management to understand cost drivers, develop metrics, and reinforce internal controls. Key activities include revenue and forecast analyses, COGS allocations (including ASC 606 revenue recognition considerations), margin analysis, journal entries and reconciliations, budgeting and forecasting for assigned plants, and coordination with external auditors for annual physical inventory and audit support. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting (or relevant field) with at least 4 years of manufacturing experience, GAAP/internal controls knowledge, SAP experience, and strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or relevant field
- At least 4 years of relevant work experience
- Experience in manufacturing environment
- Experience in product costing/profitability analysis
- Experience with GAAP and internal controls
- Experience with monthly accounting close process (journal entries and reconciliations)
- Experience with SAP or other major enterprise-wide application
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams (Operations, plant personnel, management)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
