Accounting Assistant

Job Summary
Provide daily accounting support to the Director of Accounting, including accounts receivable activities, invoicing, payment processing, and account reconciliations. Prepare journal entries, maintain accurate financial records, and assist with month-end and year-end closing activities. Handle banking functions such as deposits, bank reconciliations, and ACH processing while researching and resolving accounting discrepancies. Manage document retention, answer incoming calls, and participate in process improvement initiatives. Requires 2+ years of accounting experience, proficiency in Excel, and an Associate degree in Accounting or related field. Full-time role with on-call rotation available.
Required Qualifications
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications, especially excel, required
- Enter & format daily financial data
- Create basic tables, borders, and color codes to organize data
- Cut, Copy, Insert, Paste rows, columns, and cell groupings
- Understand how to copy and drag down formulas
- Sort and filter functions
- Use formulas including addition, subtraction, multiplication, subtotal, sum, sumif, count, round etc
- Create, edit, and update pivot tables
- Ability to communicate effectively by telephone, email and in person
- Occasionally lift and move up to 20 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- Equivalent work experience may be considered
- 2+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or office administration experience preferred
- Experience with accounts receivable, accounts payable, or general accounting functions preferred
- Experience using accounting software preferred
