Job Summary
Oversee county-wide bookkeeping functions including payroll, fixed assets, and accounts payable while managing departmental accounting records and payroll systems. Process complex bookkeeping transactions, undertake independent research projects, and prepare schedules and reports for financial statements requiring knowledge of governmental accounting principles. Assist in testing computer accounting programs and perform special projects involving extensive research, interpretation, or auditing of statistical data. Provide financial and customer service support to 800+ customers and backup payroll support to 200+ employees within the Parks and Trails program and Water & Sewer Utilities team. Work Monday through Friday with occasional non-business hours required for operational needs.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- two years of college level accounting courses
- Two years of general accounting experience
- Typing and 10-key adding machine skills
- Ability to use word processing and computer equipment and programs

- Ability to organize and prioritize accounting and payroll projects with minimal supervision
- Capable of consistently meeting non-negotiable deadlines
- Proficient with excel
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and be able to facilitate financial meetings
