Job Summary
Prepare journal entries, reconcile general ledgers, and execute month-end close activities while processing customer invoicing, cash receipts, and accounts receivable transactions. Analyze financial results, inventory, job profitability, and account variances to assist with financial statements, tax filings, and audit preparation. Maintain GAAP and internal control compliance while developing reports using Epicor ERP and Excel. Partner with Operations, Purchasing, Sales, and leadership to improve financial processes. This four-day, 10-hour week supports accounting operations for Van-Am Tool & Engineering and Van-Am Defense Systems in St. Joseph, Missouri, serving aerospace, defense, and manufacturing sectors.
Required Qualifications
- at least three years of manufacturing accounting experience
- understands the financial processes unique to a manufacturing environment
- Experience with cost accounting
- inventory accounting
- financial reporting
- government contract accounting
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- general ledger accounting
- variance analysis
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- experience using ERP systems
