Job Summary
Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements, balance sheets, P&Ls, and membership reports across the hotel, resort, and club portfolio. Lead monthly financial review meetings with property-level clients to explain variances and recommend solutions. Record and post journal entries from invoices, cash receipts, and bank activity into the general ledger. Perform month-end close activities including account reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, and intercompany entries. Analyze COGS and operating expenses against prior year and budget to surface variances. Develop, document, and train scalable accounting processes while partnering with operations and department heads. Support audit preparation, year-end close, and ad-hoc finance projects. Based in Charlottesville/Waynesboro, VA (on-site), this role offers a clear path to Senior Accountant, Manager, and Controller with CPA exam support.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (or equivalent professional experience)
- Working knowledge of GAAP
- Working knowledge of bookkeeping
- Working knowledge of journal entries
- Working knowledge of account reconciliation
- Working knowledge of the full month-end close cycle
- Strong written and verbal communication — you can explain a variance to a non-accountant
- Sharp attention to detail
- Comfortable juggling multiple property entities and deadlines
- This is an on-site position based in the Charlottesville / Waynesboro, Virginia area
Desired Qualifications
- Hotel accounting, resort accounting, club accounting, or restaurant / F&B accounting experience
- Familiarity with hospitality accounting platforms — M3 Accounting Core, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, Aptech ProfitSage, or similar
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP / XLOOKUP, SUMIFS)
- CPA, CPA candidate, or actively pursuing CPA licensure
