Job Summary
Conduct advanced accounting and financial reporting duties within the USNH Financial Operations Center, including ledger maintenance, fund reconciliation, inventory control, and complex bank reconciliations. Analyze financial data to prepare management reports, financial statements, and cost analyses for local, state, federal, and private funding sources. Coordinate journal vouchers, budget corrections, and data processing batches while monitoring revenue, expenses, and expenditure control. Interact with internal and external auditors, maintain the system-wide chart of accounts, and interpret financial policies for faculty, staff, and vendors. Provide training to institutional business leaders and resolve complex discrepancies related to funds, budgets, and procurement practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2 years' experience
- Proficiency in standard finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control practices
- Ability to interact with standard technology platforms (e.g., word processing, data entry, email, internet browsing, etc.)
- Proficiency in navigating an automated accounting/financial system
- Familiarity with standard audit practices and financial reporting requirements
- Excellent mathematical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interpret and analyze typical and specialized financial data, perform calculations, and draw conclusions where necessary
- Ability to understand and interpret typical and specialized financial statements, invoices, and other financial documentation
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, accurately, and professionally, both verbally and in writing
- Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to work in a collaborative environment with System and institutional leaders, as well as colleagues in other financial affairs departments
- Openness to 360-degree feedback and desire to learn and grow continuously
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- Additional credentials for finance or accounting (e.g., Certified Public Accountant)
- Experience operating in a shared service setting
- Experience working for a tax-exempt organization
- Knowledge of and/or direct experience with Workday Finance
