Job Summary
Brookfield Renewable is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage all aspects of the monthly accounting cycle, ensuring accurate financial close and preparing financial statements for wind and solar assets. Key responsibilities include preparing journal entries, coordinating monthly variance analysis, maintaining general ledger accounts, and completing SOX compliance documentation. Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, and are preferred to be working towards or possess an accounting designation (CPA/CA). Strong communication, organizational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite are required. This full-time role emphasizes project management and the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required (Accounting concentration preferred)
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organization skills
- Ability to 'think outside the box' and embrace a dynamic, complex, fast-paced, and deadline-driven environment
- Effective project management skills; able to prioritize multiple tasks
- Flexible and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Able to work overtime hours during peak periods as required
- Occasional travel required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Microsoft Dynamics 365 or other ERP, with the ability to learn new software
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in publicly traded companies, preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of internal controls (specific SOX experience is considered an asset)
